This roof had a porch below the main roof which took all the run-off from the main roof above in the form of constant drips. When we re-thatched it we ‘ran’ the porch roof into the main roof thereby eliminating this problem; the pitch of the porch was also increased either side of the window. This makes the window fit more snugly within the thatch. The new thatch also has more of an overhang especially at the apex/ridge which gives more weather protection to the gable walls. We also painted the chimneys.
